Turning Stone Casino Resort in Verona, New York became New York State’s first and only land-based casino when it opened in 1993. In fact, it wasn’t until 2002 when the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls opened its doors that Turning Stone had any competition inside the state.

Turning Stone Casino Resort originated as a High Stakes Bingo hall on Oneida land in 1985. The Turning Stone Casino opened in July 1993 on a 400-acre parcel Oneida Nation Lands in Verona and the Bingo operation moved over. The gaming floor was further expanded in 2002. A remodel was finished in early 2017. The main gaming floor became smoke-free in November 2016.
